Book #9 from the series: The Heart Realm

Honorable Darkness

The Story of Hex and Snip

About

Hex and Snip. Legendary Twins. Dark Myths Made Flesh.

Once hailed as twin princes with limitless potential, their names have become synonymous with terror— creatures woven into dark tales—beings so dangerous that even parents warn their children to behave or risk being spirited away by the infamous pair. Stories paint them as “Destroyers of Kingdoms,” with souls so tarnished that light and happiness vanish in their wake. Legends claim they ripped their kingdom apart in a bloody feud that pit brother against brother and father against son, all to win the love of a woman.

But legends rarely hold the full truth. The real tale of Hex and Snip is far more chilling than any tale passed down through the ages. If only the twisted legends were true—for the truth is far, far worse.

Praise for this book

Twin boys, whose birth rocked the Realm, are set on a destructive path after a series of losses.
Author C.R. Rice delivers the ninth installment in The Realm series with Honorable Darkness. Focusing on Hex and Snip, the book details their birth and subsequent trials by three of the Seven Kings, which sets the stage for them to make a choice with devastating consequences.
The author has clearly excelled in the world-building process, serving up a fantasy land where magic and spells are commonplace. There’s also the power-hungry group that causes strife.
Losing their mother during the birth of their sister was bad enough; when disaster strikes again, the twins are no longer tethered together but are broken apart as penance.
While I would have loved to have read more of the backstory, the author provided enough to make this installment stand alone. It did, however, whet my appetite to go back and learn more about The Realm.
Honorable Darkness demonstrates how two boys targeted from birth end up on the receiving end of a punishment that leads to the fall of their kingdom.

Where do I start? Firstly I messed up, and should have started reading this series from the beginning, I seem to have a habit of this.
Anyway, this is a fantastic fantasy novella, I enjoyed it more than what I thought I would.
I did read this in one sitting and I’m not even sorry. The story plot is soooo good.
Do I have a favourite character? I can’t seem to choose to be honest.
I loved this so much I am now buying myself the first book but in physical form, so that I will have a gorgeous collection.

How did I not know about this series?
I dropped into this series with Hex and Snip's story
I am definitely going back to the beginning.

I what more from these two - Heck I want more from this whole cast
How are they going to undo what they have done?
Where is everyone?
Why are they all in the room?
I know I am going to get many of my answers from previous books or from ones to come still - doesn't mean I am not going to ask
Honorable Darkness is a well-written and enjoyable novella that I would recommend to fans of fantasy and adventure. It is a quick and easy read that will keep you entertained from beginning to end
