Book #7 from the series: The Heart Realm

Sins of the Father

The Story of Silas

About

There’s a Ghost haunting the Realm

From the moment of his birth, whispers cursed him, his teal eyes marking him for a fate as cold as his name. Exiled to a remote mountain village, Silas grew up surrounded by venomous stares and cruel words, with only his mother’s warmth shielding him from a world that already feared him. But one terrible moment shatters everything: Silas returns home to find his mother gone, and his life, once anchored by love, plunges into darkness.

Lost in grief, Silas is reclaimed by a father he barely knows—a man who seizes the boy’s despair and molds him into a shadowed weapon. Masked and trained to strike fear into the hearts of his father’s enemies, Silas becomes the very ghost they once whispered about. Yet, within him, memories of his mother’s kindness still flicker. And as the darkness pulls him deeper, Silas must confront a haunting question: will he ever escape the shadow he’s become, or is he destined to be the Realm’s greatest nightmare?

Praise for this book

I'm not going to lie.....Silas irritated me in the Realm Novels, (Mainly Denial with his sketchiness and bleeding into Anger....if you know you know)
But the story that CR wove, the painful childhood, haunting adolescence and down right vicious teen years have me second guessing.
Time is a little explained concept in this series and I love it! It leaves me guessing and piecing things together one book at a time.
The second novella and even more of the mystery falls into place while other questions had me flipping the pages faster only to leave me needing another.
I love the way CR leaves breadcrumbs to tie in every book while answering questions you didn't realize you had and also presenting questions.
This one is a fan of the Ghost of the Realm

This was a spookier addition to the Realm series but I really enjoyed it! Creepy elements and more great characters.

I like to read short stories to get a feel for how an author writes and because sometimes I don't have the time or energy to read a whole book....it gets shelved and forgotten about sometimes.
BUT! After starting Sins of the Father I was sucked in and captivated by the innocent little boy that was cast away because of the way he looked and the prophecies surrounding his existance.
This book made me feel a little of everything. I was made at the kids for bullying, loved his mother for her constant support, heart broken when....things happened, and just straight angry for what he was forced to become. But most of all, I LOVED watching him grow, learning with him, and rooting for him to find his way out of the darkness.
I will say his 'GHOST' days....holy crap terrifying.
